Only the Son is the Life of the believer
The only life that the Christian has is the Son in him or her. There is no other life. When we are born again and the Son comes to abide in us (John 17:23 - I in them...) then we become sons of the Father because He sees Christ in us. In fact the word says that the world does not know us because it does not know Him. (1 John 3:1) Knowing Him is knowing eternal life. (John 17:3) We have crossed over from death to life. (Rom 5:17) In fact, it can't be put any better than by the following scripture: Col 3:4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
FREE INDEED
Nothing else in this world is life to the believer. Religion is not. Law is not. Christ is the absolute totality for the believer. In fact, in Galatians 3:1, the apostle to the Gentiles writes the following:
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Once a believer has been set free and understands this, he can never again be entangled with any yoke of bondage. He is free from every single thing in this life. He will only find true satisfaction in Christ and Him alone. Everything else will not even come a close second. He will pay attention to developing his love affair with the Lord. Even churchianity or the works of the law will not satisfy!
It says the following in Gal 3:2 : Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? The apostle was admonishing the Galatians for taking on the law to live by.
In fact Paul says in Galatians chapter one that if any man preach any other gospel than his gospel of grace, he is accursed. That is how strongly the apostle felt about it.
Dear brother or sister, don't let any man take you captive by the hollow traditions of men. You are in Christ and he is in you! This is something one needs to take hold of. Paul says that he takes hold of that which Christ Jesus has taken hold of him for. It means absolutely renewing the mind so that we can have the mind of Christ.
Christ is the life of the believer. What a wonderful revelation it is to know this. It is no wonder that the apostle Paul declared in 1 Cor 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
